Day 18 - Hartley's Crocodile Adventures
Palm CoveTuesday, 9 August 2011
Today we got up and after a discussion about which reef trip we were going to do, we headed off to Hartley's crocodile zoo. It was a lovely day, forecast to be about 28 degrees and bright sunshine, not a cloud in the sky. We arrived at about 9:30 and joined the tour to the crocodile farm with Ranger Matt. We all had a go at stroking a crocodile and Wendy even kissed it! (she denies this but did say that it would have been better than kissing me!).
We saw Koalas, Kookaburras, Cassowaries and more Crocs as we made our way to the croc feeding show where Ranger Shane demonstrated hand-feeding Crocodiles with a bit of chook.
We then joined our booked boat trip (included on our ticket), but we got turfed off as we had got on the boat reserved for a P+O cruise group. Our proper boat had gone so we had to re-schedule to 1pm, not a problem. We had our picnic then finished our day which included the boat trip where we saw crocs fed with chicken on a pole, a snake demo/show and another croc show.
When we got back to the resort we had a BBQ using their big grill, and now plan a quiet night as we have to get up early tomorrow for our reef trip.

Hello to you all, or should I say "good day."
ReplyDeleteBeen following your adventures and enjoying the blog. I was impressed Chris that a bloke could be bothered to type so much! Then the cat was let out of the bag and you said Jess had been typing it up.
I loved Fidget, "please dad can we have one?" He was so cute.
That's interesting that you have bough a faulty didgeridoo, as Duncan's also appears to be faulty. It must be the type of wood they use to make them.Ha! Ha!
I was relieved to hear Eddy got back to his guardians safely, he was lucky not to have been run over- bless him! Bit of a shock for you at 3am it's a wonder you got back off to sleep.
Looking forward to following the next part of your adventure and enjoying the photos.
safe travels

Great animal and bird shots - David Attenborough would be proud! Another early morning ahead? - I think you need a lie in soon. Sue x
